Kathmandu Valley itself is the home for more than 500 species of Birds. The hills around the Valley are popular sites for Bird watching. Best place for bird watching in Kathmandu valley are:
Phulchwoki Hill
The Phulchwoki hill host around 265 species of birds. The hill is situated 20 km south-east of Kathmandu.
Possible Sightings: Spinny Babbler, Minivets, Tibetan Siskin, tits, Eagles, Woodpecker etc.
Best time to visit: October to early May.
Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park
Shivapuri National Park, located on the Northern fringe of Kathmandu Valley is a home for more than 177 species of birds including about 9 threatened species.
Possible Sighting: Great Himalayan barbets, Eurasian eagle-owl, Kali pheasant, Blue magpies, Barred cuckoo –dove etc.
Best time to visit: October to early May.
Chitwan National Park
Chitwan National Park, one of the most famous sites for wildlife tourism in Nepal, lies in southcentral Nepal. The Park is also the best site for Bird enthusiasts. The National Park is a home of about 544 species of Birds including 22 globally threatened species.
Possible Sighting: King-fishers, Grey-headed fish eagle, Siver eared Mesia, Woodpecker, Egrets, Storks, Kingfishers etc.
Bengal Florican, Slender-billed Vulture, White-rumped Vulture and Red-headed Vulture are critically endangered species of birds found in Chitwan National Park.
Other than Bird watching the National Park is famous for One-Horned Rhino and Royal Bengal Tiger.

Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve:
Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve lies in the eastern Terai of Nepal. It is one of the best sites to watch various species of birds. About 527 species of birds are found in this area. The Wildlife Reserve is also home for 20 globally threatened species of birds.
Possible Sighting: Watercock, common goldeneye, Pallas’s fish eagle, Swamp francolin, gullbilled tern etc.
Best time to visit: Late January to Late May
Bardiya National Park
Bardiya National Park is located in the western Terai of Nepal. The National Park, covered by vast Sal and riverine forests and Tall Elephant grass is a home for 513 species of birds.
Possible Sighting: Bengal Florican, Striated grassbird, jungle Prinia, pale footed bush warbler, Golden-headed cisticola etc.
The Park is also famous for Royal Bengal Tiger.
Best time to visit: September to December and February to May.
